2.2 Integrate across Sectors

Grid planning must anticipate the scale, location, and timing of new demand from industry, transport, and buildings, instead of reacting to it. Integrating planning across these sectors, and across electricity, heat, and hydrogen networks, unlocks synergies in demand timing, flexibility potential, and decarbonisation trajectories, enabling more efficient grid modernisation than is possible when each sector or energy vector is planned in isolation.
